IMPORTANT UPDATES FOR SHARED OWNERSHIP CUSTOMERS
How to apply for shared ownership will be changing from 1st April 2023. We've outlined what this means for you below, but please get in touch with our Affordable Sales team (sales@curo-group.co.uk) if you need any further information.
What is changing?
Help to Buy (HtB) agent services are ending on the 31st of March 2023. This will include HtB services associated with Shared Ownership. As such, you will no longer be required to submit an application online with Help to Buy to apply for a Shared Ownership home.
The HtB services will be phased out, and a government-run eligibility service will be implemented in its place. If you are currently registered with a HtB agent, Homes England should have made contact with you outlining these changes and how they will affect you.
The new service will allow you to check if you are eligible for shared ownership, and connect you with shared ownership providers, such as Curo, local to the area you are interested in purchasing in.
What does this mean for me?
The changes mean that applying for a Shared Ownership home is becoming simpler.
From the 1st April of 2023, Curo will exclusively manage your application for shared ownership. This means that you will need to apply and submit an online application for Shared Ownership homes with Curo.
While the eligibility checker on Gov.uk website will help you understand if you are eligible to purchase using Shared Ownership, it is not intended to be used as ‘proof’ of eligibility. Curo will therefore carry out our own eligibility checks.
We are developing a user-friendly application process on the Curo Sales website and you will be able to create an online account with Curo within the next couple of weeks in readiness to apply for a shared ownership home.
We will share further details on how to apply for Shared Ownership with Curo shortly. If, in the meantime, you would like any further information please contact the Affordable Sales Team.
